If you came to the Ravilious lecture in September, I hope you found it as interesting and informative as I did. Many members found the quality of the slides particularly impressive and the whole experience will surely be enhanced when we visit the related exhibition at Compton Verney in Spring 2018.
This month we have what should be a fascinating lecture on ‘ Silver Filigree and Traditional Arts in Kosovo‘. It will be good to experience a more positive perspective of this area which many will only associate with the horrors of the recent conflict in the Balkans. The lecture starts at 2.15pm on Wednesday 18th and do bring a friend if you can. Remember: anyone who pays the visitor fee of £8 and subsequently becomes a member will have this amount deducted from their membership fee.
I also wish to take this opportunity to remind you that there are THREE upcoming events in November :-
1. The study day on ‘ 1000 Years of British Theatre ‘ by Andrew Davies at our usual venue, Cawley Hall,Eye, on Wednesday,8th November. If you have not already obtaind an application form, it can be download them from the website. Some will be available at next week’s lecture.
2. A return visit by Toby Faber on 15th November to tell us about ‘ The American West in Nineteenth Century Art'
Many of you will remember his lecture on book covers in 2015-16 which was all the more interesting because he is part of such a well known publishing family.
3. Finally, on Wednesday, 29th November, a visit has now been arranged to the Kidderminster Carpet Museum.
Application forms and further details will be posted on the website and will also be available at this month’s lecture. If you are having problems with the website, I can only apologise as it is still being worked on. You should be able to access ‘ documents ‘ under the ‘ Join Us ‘ tab.
